The Legal Officer is the Legal Advisor to the Council.

The department is responsible for dealing with violation of Municipal Council Ordinance, other relevant acts and ordinances, by-laws or breaches of agreement and for taking appropriate legal action against violators.

The Department is also responsible for dealing with the legal aspects of leases and land acquisition.
